We worked in collaboration with Bishop Grosseteste University to realise their aspirations for new accommodation to support the academic offering.

We structured the site purchase, funding and construction on a long income model, managing the delivery for the funding institution.

The accommodation is adjacent to the campus and predominantly aimed at first year undergraduates. The rooms are provided in clusters of 5, 6, 7 and 8 rooms both in flats and townhouses

Arranged over 2 separate blocks and 12 townhouses the development totals 293 bedrooms built to BREEAM ‘very good’ standards.

All accommodation has generous kitchen living rooms incorporating dining and social space.

There is ample landscaped external amenity space, together with access to the campus facilities on the doorstep.

The landscaped external realm helps to create a secure and attractive environment.

The development has a biodiversity net gain, including swift and bat boxes. This is something the team are justifiably proud of given that the site was “greenfield”.

The scheme is designed without gas, utilising ASHP for the hot water, which will save c65% energy compared to gas and emits no CO2 on site. Procuring renewable energy electricity supply will allow the owner to meet its in-use CO2 ESG  objectives.

The design of the buildings and choice of predominately brickwork in a class A1 facade has exceeded the latest fire engineering requirements. The frame is light gauge steel, fabricated offsite and delivered in sections for rapid assembly.
